My Journey

Forging my path as a professional healer and reader was my soul’s calling for this lifetime; but discovering the call within myself took time.

One of my earliest experiences as a child was seeing a kindergarten classmate’s aura and understanding the emotion behind the color that I saw around their head. Although I wasn’t aware of what an aura was – nor did I realize I was the only one seeing these colors – my mother confirmed that some events that were occurring in that classmate’s life that would lead them to feel this way.

This experience, combined with my father’s paranormal and supernatural experiences, led him to enrolling me in a short intuition development workshop around seven-years-old. The intuitive activities we did in that workshop came very naturally to me, and afterwards, I had significant and unexplainable experiences throughout my teen and early adult years. Most of the time I just felt “different,” but not in a good way.

I often felt like an “outsider looking in” most of my entire life. I struggled to connect and socialize with my peers, and even more so in find my place in the world upon graduating college. Being in an environment of constant rejection deeply affected my self esteem, self worth, and my ability to believe in my capacity to “adult” on my own. I tried talk therapy to address these challenges. Although it was helpful, I found the healing arts made a more profound impact in healing my heart wounds, and addressing the deep ancestral karma and trauma from the past.

Now I understand, my being “different” is in fact because I’m here to create something new and different in the world!

How I Got Started in the Healing Arts

Despite being very naturally intuitive, being a career healer wasn’t something I ever considered, nor even knew was an option. Like many graduates, my goal was to “get a job.” During my job search I received constant rejection and kept spinning my wheels in odd jobs; so, I began taking healing arts workshops for fun.

I listened to the call within me, and attended an intuition development workshop led by Linda Schiller Hanna (predictor of the fall of Sky Lab in the 1970s). At the time, I didn’t really have any expectations of what the workshop was, I just knew I was supposed to be there. In this workshop, I learned that the inner pulls, voice, and strong hunches I had been having most all of my life, actually were more than helpful and accurate! The more I tried to push doors that lead to paths not meant for me, the more I was bounced back to the healing arts. So, I began to explore other healing modalities such as: Reiki, Quantum Touch, Biofield Tuning, and Hypnosis.

Realizing I couldn’t ignore the calling any longer, in October 2011 and at the encouragement of family and friends, I began my career into the healing arts, offering readings, hypnosis, and reiki, in Del Ray-Alexandria, Virginia at Vital Mind Body Therapy.

Hypnosis

Meredith McDonough made a believer out of me.
